Casa
Ages 2.5 - 6 years
Our Casa program follows the principals and guidelines of the Montessori Method. Your child will work through the four areas of the classroom; Practical Life, Sensorial, Language and Mathematics. At the heart of our program we focus on each child as an individual and respect their interests, abilities and character. We also value the children's natural ability to play, socialize, create and be a part of nature.
Practical Life
In the practical life area the children explore activities which prepare them for practical tasks such as pouring water, sewing, cleaning a table, washing linens etc. While simultaneously supporting the development of the hand, concentration and fine motor control.
Language
In the Language area the children are introduced to the phonetic sounds of the letters which sets the foundation for reading and writing. The children also explore activities which aid in the development of the hand to prepare for writing. Later, the children explore phonograms parts of speech, grammar and much more!
Sensorial
In the Sensorial area the children explore activities that isolate the use of a single sense. They explore discrimination of size, shape, smell, texture, sound, colour, temperature etc. The Sensorial activities aids in the development of the five senses and ultimately supports the sensory motor learner.
Mathematics
In the Math area the children explore many different math concepts. The children first explore the relationship between quantity and numerals, and they go on to explore concepts such as the decimal system, operations, fractions etc.
Follow the Child
At Kingston Montessori, we accept every child as they are, and strive to support them individually, on their journey of learning. The Casa guide is responsible for creating an individualized lesson plan for each child which supports them as a whole; mind, body & spirit.
